Our story began around 2012, and it’s been a fun one! Well, at least interesting.
I’m Amanda Urzykowski. I’m a CRNA, MSN, APRN, which means, I put people to sleep for surgery for a living (since October self-confidence2010). I’ve been a trauma ICU, trauma ER, and critical cardiac nurse before that for longer than I want you to know. When I hit my late 30s, I started getting injections from various friends/providers in the aesthetics industry. During this time, I was also doing anesthesia for some of these procedures while the surgeons perform them, breast augmentation or reduction, face lifts, etc. and I fell in love. In love with the field, in love with the products, in love with the self-confidence that could be restored not only in myself as a client, but the joy I see in others when something that bothers you every day is corrected. When someone listens to you and your needs.
Part of anesthesia training is learning surgical procedures. How they are performed and specifically what to watch out for to avoid any potential complications pre- and post-surgery when assessing a patient. (In case you didn’t know you have a guardian angel watching you while you have surgery, kind of keeping an eye on everyone and you) We do blocks for pain relief, including behind the eye called a retro bulbar block. So, both MDAs and CRNAs have an innate knowledge of nerves, arteries, and veins. And well meds. That’s sorta what we do.
This knowledge, experience, and soon-to-be passion made the transition to aesthetics feel like a natural organic transition into what I was meant to do. Through my years of training and experience, I not only understand the inner workings, but also the pharmacology of the products we use and what they can and can’t do.
